EducationColorado College • Harvard Medical School
AboutI was born and raised in Alamosa, Colorado and attended undergraduate school at Colorado College. During and after college I did research in parasitology at several places including Chicago, Mexico City and the Yucatán. I then moved back east to attend Harvard Medical School where I also continued in research. Although I thought I wanted a career in research, I realized I belong in patient care. Initially I trained in General Surgery and completed several years of residency, but transferred into family practice residency at the University of Iowa as I enjoy the full spectrum of medicine and the continuity of care that we as family practitioners are able to provide. I returned to Colorado and practiced in Pueblo for more than 20 years. At the start of my family practice career I did mostly obstetrics and pediatrics, but this changed when I worked as a hospitalist and a VA doctor, where I primarily cared for adult patients. I also was a medical director at the hospice in nursing home for years, which allowed me to care for geriatric patients. Family practice is where my heart belongs and it is very fulfilling, I love what I do and I am honored to care for patients. My interests include geriatrics, women’s health and chronic disease management. I also do minor surgical procedures. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and my several cats.
